This is what a Dad looks like on Father’s Day after running a 10k race with serious “Runner’s Rash”! If you don’t know what that is, google it - it’s better than getting it. I still ran faster than any previous 10k I’ve run but still pathetic when compared to some folks who obviously were first timers, much younger and apparently in far better shape. Oh, well - did I say I was doing this to win the Olympics? No, I’m running for my health primarily and I quite enjoy participating.
Speaking again about participating, you might notice that “participation” is a re-occurring theme in this blog. Why? Because getting involved in your work relationships, personal relationships and your community in general pays off dividends constantly; at least that’s my experience. Coaching hockey or soccer I’ve been introduced to new customers, referred to new potential customers, and made new friends. At the race yesterday, I even won a prize - a new Polar heart rate monitor watch and running socks. (You never have enough running socks although these ones will go to my daughter; butterflies aren’t my favorite motif).
So, participate. Get passionate about what you like to do or are currently doing; it will pay off for you down the road.
